Kings County Athletics is a run club founded in honor of Ratthew "Tempo" Delancey.Born in the shadows of MetroTech station, Tempo was the fastest rodent in Downtown Brooklyn by age 2 (months). Raised on bagel crumbs, halal cart grease, and discarded Gatorade caps, Tempo became known for his fierce racing style (he once bit a corgi mid-race who was drafting too close) and signature look: a single sock as a headband and an I <3 NY singlet chewed through for ventilation.Signature Moments:
- 1st Place Bodega Mile 1993
- 1st Place Coney Island Classic 1994
- 1st Place Midnight Trash Dash 1994
- 2nd Place NYC Marathon 1995 (got distracted by a dropped hot dog bun in Park Slope)Today, Tempo is more myth than mammal. Some say he still trains in the abandoned tunnels beneath the 2nd Avenue subway. Others claim to have seen a shadowy figure sprinting along the Williamsburg waterfront in the dead of night, dodging e-bikes and late-night joggers. A pioneer of urban athletics, Tempo proved that if you’re not dodging something, you’re not moving fast enough."Run like the health inspector’s on your tail"
